This is a very well designed piece of equipment for those needing assistance with standing up and also the therapist suggested using it to do pushups from a sitting position

This rail works great for my husband. His legs are very weak and uses his arms to push up out of a sitting position. The back rail tucks between the seat and the back and he can then push hard on the handles to boost up. The handles are about 5 inches higher than the chair arms and so are a big help standing up. After seeing how great this worked, we bought another one for the family room couch. We highly recommend this aid if you need help standing up.

It is what I expected.
I was tasked with talking of my senior brother for 6 weeks and has balance and walking disabilities and increased difficulty of getting out of a chair. This fits the bill perfectly. He frequently falls getting off the sofa when at my house. Placing this lift assist was exactly what I needed. I helps him to stand to an upright position prior to moving. Otherwise he leans forward and uses the coffee table as a lift which contributed him falling when getting up. Having used this item for 3 weeks, he has not fallen getting off the sofa. The bottom cushions are removable but the back is not. Was able to push the back of the lift under the back permanent cushion without difficulty and under the removable one. You do not feel it when sitting either. The only thing that might make a better device, in my opinion, would be if the side lift bars were just a little higher. But really no complaint and highly recommend use for anyone that has difficulty rising from a chair or sofa. I can put it away and have it available for another visit without permanently installing a lift device or chair.
When putting together wasn't sure how this would work. But it has been great. My mom finds it very helpful to use when getting up from the sofa. An added bonus is that it doesn't stand out as a piece of medical equipment

Worth every penny! I am now able to get up from the left side of my sofa. My right leg is stronger so I could always get up from the right side using my right arm. But I could not manage getting up using my left arm. Now I have the bars on both sides to push up off the sofa. Works great. Needed to review instructional video twice, but I assembled it with a little patience.
I wasn't sure this rail was going to work properly, especially after reading several of the reviews but I LOVE IT!!!!! This thing makes my life soooo much easier. I'm only 57 but I have not so great knees and getting (or TRYING to) get up and down from the couch is painful and a real scare and chore! I had to play the video in order to put it together- like someone else mentioned...those instructions "ain't worth a flip", lol. But other than that everything is all good. I no longer have to worry about falling or hurting myself while pushing myself up.
